Rev. Timney was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. He accepted Christ as Lord and Savior in the summer of 1984 and was baptized at North Trenholm Baptist Church in Columbia, South Carolina. God then called him to vocational ministry when he was living in Germany and a student at the University of Maryland.
He attended the University of Maryland’s Munich, Germany, campus for two years before transferring to Charleston Southern University in South Carolina, where he finished his Bachelor of Science degree in 1996. He then earned a Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina in 2000.
Upon entering full-time ministry, he was ordained by Union Baptist Church in Marion, South Carolina on September 3, 2000. He has served in various churches since then in youth, student, and education ministries. He is currently serving as an associational missionary in student ministry for the Waccamaw Baptist Association of Conway, South Carolina, and is sponsored by the North American Mission Board.
He is married to Kendra, who is a sixth-grade teacher, and has two daughters, Tammy, who is grown and attending Horry Georgetown Technical College, and Mahala, who is finishing the sixth grade this year. Brian and Kendra are also foster parents for a son, Austin, who is now 24. Brian also has one older brother, who is a retired police officer. His father is retired from the Army, and his mother is a retired college professor.
Brian’s lifetime calling in ministry is to youth and student ministry. His responsibilities at Hardeetown will include developing and leading our youth ministry, overseeing our children’s ministry, and assisting the senior pastor with the overall educational and discipleship ministry of the church.
